UAE is collated by seven emirates. Those seven emirates are Abu Dhabi, Umm al-Quwain, Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, and Sharjah. Emirate is governed by a hereditary emir. One of the emirs is selected as the President of the United Arab Emirates. The capital of UAE is Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are the two commercial and cultural centers in UAE.

Today, Emirates oil reserves are ranked as the seventh-largest in the world. Also it is the world's seventeenth largest natural gas reserves nation. All these have contributed UAE to make it the world's seventh-highest GDP per capita.

UAE was a desert inhabited by proud and resourceful nomadic Bedouin tribes, fishing villages and date farms. It had several palm huts coral buildings and the Ruler's Fort. Life was nomadic, and had a fishing pattern similar to the broad region. The Bedouin desert-dwelling tribes were the principal building blocks of UAE society. Pearl diving and fishing were the main occupations. It was marked by deserts, grazing areas for the camels and herds and the oasis where limited water sources led to farming of dates and vegetables.

The Bedouin were hospitable, resourceful and independent and faced rough environment. They respected and honored guests.
